Our newest SAP solution manager podcast has just posted on SDN, if you get a chance to listen I think you’ll enjoy it, the format is different as we tend to have more of a conversation as opposed to a strict format, we talk about root cause analysis, knowledge management amongst other topics. Feel free to leave me feedback and ideas if you have an interest on any other topics you would like to hear about.

As you may have heard SAP has been making a lot of noise lately with their improved database technology, this was described in Hasso Plattner’s keynote address for Sapphire and in subsequent new articles there is a lot of buzz about how this finally will supplant Oracle as the DB leader. The reality is though that even though the technology is impressive and certainly looks superior (all we have seen are demos ) this is not something we have not heard before.

There has been a lot of buzz lately about Siemens decision to stop SAP maintenance and I think also a lot of confusion and misinformation. I have had some conversations with two of our clients over the past week on what some of this means so I thought I would throw myself out on a limb and try and explain some of what is being discussed and what it means. Note that Siemens intentions have not been confirmed, the initial buzz was based on one website article in Germany which as I understood was mis translated, so it is not confirmed that Siemens has terminated maintenance only that they are considering it.
